Duran Duran Project: Augmented Reality in the live performance (2001)

More here: bit.ly Duran Duran Pop Trash tour in December 2000 introduced the world's first use of "augmented reality" technology in a live concert. Duran Duran and Charmed Technology have worked together for advanced 2D/3D visual effects, create animated characters on stage with the band allows to live. This collaboration began during a meeting backstage before a concert in Los Angeles. Jarrell Pair was a simple demonstration of the AR Toolkit for members Nick Rhodes, Simon Le BandBon and Warren Cuccurullo, and the idea of using AR in a live concert was born. This video shows the impact tests with the AR Toolkit before the concerts. Real-time video effects test are shown. These tests were the basis for the effects seen in live performance "Hallucinating Elvis", "Girls on Film", "White Lines", "Late Bar", "lava lamp", "The Reflex" and many more shown. More information about this work can link to this bit.ly and found in the publication are listed below Jarrell Pair, Jeff Wilson,Jeff Chastine and Maribeth Gandy, "The project Duran Duran: Augmented Reality Toolkit in Live Performance".
